Abstract

We describe a simple software mimic of an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter that is suitable for most laboratory applications requiring A/D. The routine samples output from a voltage-controlled oscillator that can be built for around $6. Results of proving trials show the output to be linear and sampling rates of up to 50/sec are possible.
