Research Interests

Dr. Das is a seasoned chemist with over a decade of laboratory research experience. He possesses a unique blend of experience in the fields of synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. At the National Center for Wellness and Recovery (NCWR), his research is dedicated to the design and development of novel drug candidates for safer pain management, treatment of substance use disorders and overdose. His work aims to create potent, long-acting medications that target pathways involved in pain signaling and addiction, in collaboration with neuroscientists and pharmacologists, to combat the ongoing opioid epidemic in the United States. According to the CDC, over 107,622 people died from drug overdoses in 2021, additionally the opioid crisis led to economic losses of approximately $1.5 trillion in 2020.
