Research Interests

My work focuses on the impact of environmental toxicant mixtures on the development of cancer. We examine the effects of heavy metals and pesticides on the cellular and molecular changes that occur following prolonged exposure to these toxicants and also how we may be able to prevent their cancer-causing effects.

Research Opportunities with Dr. Wallace

Research Area: Environmental toxicology, cancer, molecular biology

Project Title: Environmental toxicants and cancer development

Project Description: Our project examines the effects of environmental toxicants on the development of cancer, primarily pancreatic cancer. We are examining the cellular and molecular changes that occur following acute and chronic exposure to heavy metals and pesticides (individually and in mixtures) and how apoptotic pathways are altered leading to the increased cellular growth and proliferation.
