Dr. Charles Amlaner is the Vice President for Research and Chief Research Officer for Oklahoma State University’s Center for Health Sciences Office of Research Services. OSU-CHS is dedicated to educating and training osteopathic physicians, research scientists, and other health care professionals with an emphasis on serving rural and underserved Oklahoma. Dr. Amlaner’s role is in leading the research mission at OSU-CHS along with creating new research collaborations throughout the northeastern area of Oklahoma. Dr. Amlaner is a professionally trained sleep disorders specialist and animal behaviorist. He holds a D.Phil. from the University of Oxford, England, in Zoology and Experimental Psychology. Dr. Amlaner is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at OSU. He was head of the Animal Sleep Research Group for over 30 years, and has served as a departmental chairperson at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and Indiana State University, VP for Research and dean of the Graduate College at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, Chief Operating Officer of the KSU Research and Service Foundation, Inc., Commissioner of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and Councilman on the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
